classic motorcycle restorationclassic motorcycle restorationThis picture shows me attempting to kick start my good friend Mark's 1948 chief. The bike had been restored by a gentleman that used to race for Indian in the 40's -50's. This was the last Indian that he restored. Unfortunately i don't remember the ex-racer's name.

starting this bike is pretty difficult. There is a whole precedure where you kick it thru once with the choke on, and ignition advanced a certain amount (the left grip adjust the timing) and then you hop on one leg and rub your stomach while tapping your head. if you did it right, it will start 2nd or 3rd kick and man is it loud!
